The purpose of this study is to clarify how the utilization of labor force by farming households has been reorganized. In the Tohoku region, there are three generations of farmers: those born between 1926 and 1935, between 1946 and 1955, and between 1971 and 1980. These generations formed the base of labor supply as part-time farmers. Among them, the generation born between 1926 and 1935 and the generation born between 1946 and 1955 functioned as the base of labor supply for other industries. Not only was the farm population no longer reproducing, but the utilization of labor force in other industries was also abandoned.
