They are useful for understanding the characteristics of Japanese and cultivating a sense of language which mentioned in “the new Guidelines for Learning and Instruction (Course of Study)”. Through onomatopoeia learning, students can learn the position of Japanese onomatopoeia by contrasting other languages, the expressiveness of onomatopoeia itself, and the specification of the form and sound symbolistic characteristics. Especially in elementary school, it is important to enjoy using onomatopoeia while looking back on their language life.
