The main results are as follows (1)(2)(3). (1) After studying the trends in geography education in Japan and overseas, we focused on the geographical concepts that forms the basis of geography education. and we assumed the areas that would constitute a consistent curriculum. (2) Focusing on the element of competency in the OECD “Education 2030”, we examined the commonality of the constituent areas of the assumed a consistent curriculum, grounded a principle of content organization “scope” of a consistent geography education curriculum. (3) Analyzing the descriptions related to geographical concepts in the current kindergarten educational guidelines and the current educational guidelines for elementary and junior high social studies and high school geography education. As developing a consistent geography education curriculum with geographical concepts as the main pillar, we considered geographical concepts have sequentially and order hierarchy, grounded the characteristics of such geographical concepts as a principle of learning stages “sequence” of a consistent geography education curriculum.
