Baudelaire, who was introduced by Ueda Bin with the word 'nuance', has later been accepted with a focus on the 'sad' or 'devilish' aspects of his works. In the context of naturalism, Baudelaire was criticized under the term 'artificiality', while his 'life' was evaluated to a certain extent, and a conflict between the two opposing moments was found. In such a context, Kambara Ariake's 'Hallucination'(Genkaku; La Chambre double) showed the conflict between realistic 'time' and 'dream' space, while the issue of 'time' was not considered important. 'Autumn Song'(Aki-no-uta; Chant d'automne) included in Nagai Kafu's Coral Anthology finds a strong orientation toward the past based on the recognition of time in the original poem, and along with 'Enemy' can be said to occupy a unique position in the reception of Baudelaire in the late Meiji period.
