| 内容記述 | This paper retraces the mighty footsteps of two towering figures in modern ceramic art: painted porcelain artists Kenkichi Tomimoto and Yoshimichi Fujimoto, examining their works and its underlying artistic philosophy. A sizeable volume of research has already been published about these two artists, almost none of which however has focused on the artistic philosophy of the pair, whose relationship waz one of mentor and pupil, to discuss them as a single current in ceramic art. It is also true that no studies exist of their work from the viewpoint of a ceramicist. In the world of painted porcelain, Tomimoto and Fulimoto offered through their work a unique approach to the issue of functionality and decorative appeal, a legacy still very much alive today. As one of those trained by Fujimoto-sesei, it is my fervent wish to continue relating for the benefit of later generations of ceramic artists the lineage of overglaze enamel work emanating from the Tokyo Bijutsu Gakko (Tokyo school of Fine Arts; forerunner of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music). I believe doing so will also serve as a stimulus for my own artistic endeavors. | |||||
