内容記述 An aging population is exacerbating social issues in those suburbs that were developed in 1960s to 70s in Japan. In particular, the Sendai area has many suburbs with freestanding houses that were developed by a single real estate agency. These dwellings were sold at the same time to people of similar age groups; hence in forty years time the suburb itself ages. Issues such as lack of adequate medical systems, nursing care, and problematic distance from shopping are now emerging as a result. n this report, we analyzed the condition of aging in 4 suburban residential areas, by using questionnaires to survey households. In order to measure this, composition of the households were divided into four life stages, and analysed by composition ratio in life stages. The first stage is married couples without children, second is married with children, third is living with children who are above 20 years old, and the fourth stage is old couples without any children living with them. We conducted interviews in four suburbs, with two principal trends observed; one has 30% each of stages from two to four, and the other had 90% of stages in three and four. The former showed the positive characteristics of suburbs where one can co-live with younger generations, whereas the latter showed more serious aging issues. t was found that this analysis was effective in revealing the stages of aging population that each suburb faces.
